We don’t know much about the death of Giovanni di Bicci, the ancestor of the Medici family. Born on February 18th, 1360, he died on February 20th, 1429 at the age of 69. Season 1 of the series is dedicated to Cosimo de Medici, his son, and Giovanni he had to die at some point. Since it was Cosimo, in the 1440s, to build the Medici Palace in Florence, it makes sense that the death of Giovanni has been filmed now that the troupe is not yet in Florence.
